4. Different types of simulators
A distinction is generally made between study simulators and real-time simulators. Study simulators have no reason to run in real time, and are generally used for planning and management studies, or for designing new equipment, settings or automation. These study simulators can sometimes be run faster than real time, the aim being to obtain the most accurate result possible in the shortest possible time.
