6. Basic energy-saving actions
The diversity of industrial activities leads to a wide range of actions to be taken to reduce energy consumption and improve the energy performance of an industrial site.
This sector needs to be approached methodically, with a categorization of the various energy uses and areas for improvement.
The first category, common to all companies, concerns the building, also known as the envelope, with variable characteristics depending on the needs of the activity (height in particular) and the conditions of its environment (climate, meteorology, location, orientation, masks...).
The second category, grouped under the heading of general resources (sometimes referred to as "facilities"), covers all the common uses required to ensure activity on the premises, i.e. heating, air conditioning, production of hot water and steam,...
