2. Set up medical surveillance for workers
The purpose of the pre-employment medical examination is to ensure that the employee is medically fit for the job to which the employer intends to assign him/her. It is therefore advisable to provide the occupational physician with as much information as possible on the employee's work tasks and risks at the time of the pre-hiring medical examination, so that the physician can check :
that the harmful effects of the job cannot have more deleterious effects on this employee than on the rest of the population (e.g.: exposure to certain chemical agents may be deemed incompatible with the job envisaged by the occupational physician because of a pathology of the liver, the organ that eliminates heavy metals, chemical substances,...
