2. Recognize the different categories of equipment
Before making a choice, company managers need to be familiar with the different categories of protective equipment. There are two main categories of PPE:
APRs based on dust filters ;
RPAs supplied from a clean, breathable air source.
2.1 Choosing your respirator according to dust level
The arrêté du 7 mars 2013 website sets three dust levels, which are referred to as :
level 1 dust (concentration of 100 fibers/liter maximum) ;
level 2 dust (concentration between 100 and 6,000 fibers/liter) ;
level 3 dust (concentration between 6,000 and 25,000 fibers/liter).
