2. Technical description of the innovation
The device is shown in figure

. It is made of stainless steel compatible with vacuum techniques and treated with a silica surface deposit to prevent adsorption or reaction of VOCs with the material. The SPME-Adapter features a septum held in place by a nut for introducing the SPME fiber, and a MicroQT valve (Entech) for evacuating the sampling container and filling it with sample gas. The assembly is screwed onto a vacuum-compatible flask (Entech).
