3. How are chemical substances classified?
The value obtained is compared with a table which classifies the chemical substance in a hazard category.
The table below shows a comparison between the old EU DSD classification, which was discontinued in 2009 but whose data are still used, and the new European CLP (Classification-Labelling-Packaging) classification, as well as the new international GHS (Global Harmonisation System) classification for oral LD50. An identical table is available for all routes of administration.
