Overview
ABSTRACT
Fire Safety Engineering (FSE) is the recent formalization of fire performance analysis of any built environment. Through in-depth analysis, FSE is used to evaluate the performance of a structure in relation to different objectives associated with criteria such as those relating to the effects of fire on people. This approach complements the traditional descriptive approach of fire regulations, involving an obligation of means. After defining the link with the traditional regulation, the paper outlines the key stages of a fire safety engineering study. In particular, the approach outlined in France during the National Project ISI is presented. The paper then details the other existing methods and points of difference.

the second example deals with a cinema complex, with a particular focus on evacuation conditions. This example was also produced as part of the PN ISI ;
the third part presents the context of application and details a number of studies carried out in the context of composite shipbuilding, the frame of reference being that of the International Maritime Organization;
the fourth part presents the context and examples of applications in the railway sector.
