An active rolling mill is located at the bottom of the valley. The geological context is as follows: Bajocian and Lower Bathonian (Dogger) limestones cut by the valleys down to the Liassic marls on which modern alluvium rests. The plant rests on this alluvium, which is 12 m thick.
At the site, a free aquifer with interstitial porosity is found, made up of sandy-clayey limestone gravels. The soil is heterogeneous, with gravelly layers in the finer levels and clay lenses in the coarser horizons. The plant is located between a gravel pit and the river, in hydraulic contact with the alluvial water table (figure
