Managing chemical risks in ELV depollution operations

Solutions for reducing chemical risk in an ELV center involve applying the general prevention principles set out by article L. 4121-2 du Code du travail .

More concretely, for all operations involving the inhalation of fumes, gases and dusts, localized extraction should be used as close as possible to the source of pollution. For fluid decontamination, recovery kits are available on the market. These kits recover :

• single fuels with direct transfer to storage tanks;

• the four fluids (brake, oil, windscreen washer, coolant).

Prevention also means better training for the employees responsible for cleaning up these vehicles....
