Classification by origin

• Flower honey or nectar honey: honey obtained from plant nectars.

• Honeydew honey: honey obtained mainly from excretions left on living plant parts by sucking insects (hemipterans) or from secretions from living plant parts.

Classification by mode of production and/or presentation

• Comb honey: honey stored by bees in the capped cells of freshly constructed comb, or in thin sheets of embossed wax made exclusively from beeswax, containing no brood, and sold in comb, whole or otherwise.
