8. Mistakes to avoid
Vibration welding is preferable for large parts, and preferably for semi-crystalline thermoplastics (such as PA), whether filled or not.
Right from the design stage, think :
wall thicknesses: too thin and vibrations dissipate into the room;
vertical joint planes: the weld will always be much weaker, if not impossible to achieve;
fillers: glass fibers and talc can sometimes reach 30%; above this percentage, weld strength drops by 50%, leaving visible traces at the joint (a white color for talc and filaments for glass fibers).
