Make the team aware of the situation
Narrative practices to motivate project teams

When project teams fail, they tend to talk in similar terms. There is denial, complaining and resignation. It is therefore possible to identify these elements in the teams' discourse during a meeting by writing the words and phrases on a board. In this way, the project manager enables team members to become aware of their situation.

The following questions can accompany this first step:

• what's going on that's not fair to your efforts?
