1. How has the definition of the QMS evolved?

As detailed in the fact sheet “Changes in Vocabulary and Definitions (ISO 9000 and ISO 9001)” [FIC 1876] , the new version successfully clarifies the definition of a QMS by clearly specifying and distinguishing the elements of the system (structure, roles, responsibilities, planning and operation of the organization, practices, rules, and beliefs of the organization), and what these elements are intended to produce and establish: policies, objectives, and processes to achieve those objectives.
