2. Freeze the design and avoid engineering iterations
Engineers and technicians in the design office are by nature creative people, but they are often perfectionists, seeking to make successive improvements or to take account of constraints or disturbances poorly identified at the start of the design process. It is therefore difficult for them to freeze an unquestioned design, but this is essential if they are to move on to the next phase of the project process, including the detailed drawing files, and the launch of procurement and manufacturing of the equipment components to be produced.
