Skills are an essential and often overlooked dimension.

To ensure that skills are aligned with project needs, you first need to have a clear understanding of the different components of the project. If you don't, there's a major risk that the team's existing skills won't match those that are really needed to complete the project.

• Some skill areas are not covered, or on the contrary, some skills are present, but are of no real use to the project.

• The level of expertise in each skill element does not match the project's needs: it may be over- or undersized.
