The theory of constraints (TOC) developed by E. Goldratt provides a valuable method for analyzing uncomfortable or blocked situations: the current reality tree (CRT). It enables us to plan the main stages of a change (FRT-TRT), forcing stakeholders to avoid launching headlong into action or "copying and pasting" ill-adapted solutions. It "forces" the team's creativity (it's a group effort!) by avoiding systematic recourse to the hierarchy, and thus reinforces its credibility.

Dealing with a risk or opportunity can be seen as a deliberate transition from an unsatisfactory situation A to a desirable situation B. In a new and/or complex situation, the use of the tools associated with this approach helps to structure and streamline collective work. Software such as Visio and an overhead projector facilitate group work.
