User-centered design as a source of innovation and performance

By creating mock-ups, the proposed solutions can be tested by future users. Storyboards are written to enable users to test the mock-ups according to predefined usage scenarios within a very precise protocol. The different solutions proposed can thus be tested and compared by different users. Most often, the aim is to measure the success rate in use, the number of failures, the time taken to complete the task, the number of steps required to accomplish the task, user satisfaction, the pleasure and emotions experienced during use, and so on.

Offering very simple mock-ups (pre-prototypes) is a factor that enables iterations in the design approach. Testing solutions very early in the design cycle is essential to perceive usability problems before they become too costly to modify and resolve.
