User-centered design as a source of innovation and performance

User-centered design is based on the idea that actual or potential end-users are in the best position to influence product development, evaluation and use. So, if the final product better matches users' expectations, needs, desires and expected characteristics, it will be better accepted, better appropriated and better used by future users. The aim of this approach is to reduce the cost of human adaptation to the product, and maximize user-friendliness and performance for the greatest possible number of people.
