5. Case study
An SME that manufactures bulky, made-to-order construction products for craftsmen or large groups is having trouble keeping up with sales growth.
The production areas are old, and have undergone a number of changes that have not always been well managed. Today, they are cramped, and the company is planning to build a new factory.
None of the basic elements of Lean are really developed, despite a few attempts at 5S and standardization.
Our observations in the field confirm the clutter, with a number of blatant mudas as a result. The flow of products is not immediately understandable.
