8. Reassess risks, final criticality, residual risk
The effectiveness of measures taken to deal with a failure should be measured by reassessing the foreseeable criticality after its application, using the same method and rating scale. This makes it possible to compare several solutions, and is therefore an aid to decision-making on the measures to be taken.
The new criticality level is sometimes referred to as "residual risk", and should be of the same order of magnitude as other accepted failures.
