7. Conclusions
The environmental policy remains the fundamental, structuring element of an environmental management system as described in the ISO 14001 standard. The successive stages involved in complying with this standard are described in figure 4 . It is extremely important that this policy is the fruit of in-depth reflection by the organization's top management. This strategic vision must then be shared by all staff and other external stakeholders.
