Obtaining a patent in France: the examination and grant procedure

For patent applications filed before May 22, 2020 , the procedure for examining and granting a French patent could appear relatively straightforward compared with other procedures, in particular those before the European Patent Office (EPO).

For patent applications filed on or after May 22, 2020 (as a result of the Pacte law), the procedure for examining and granting a French patent should be similar to that used before the EPO.
