4. User concepts and expectations
At this stage, you need to relate the various possible solutions to user expectations (e.g. price, timeless aesthetics, directional light for the indoor lamp). You can adapt a QFD (Quality Function Deployment) matrix to detect the positive (+) or negative (-) effects of a solution on the various expectations (see Figure 3). You can then combine the most promising solutions into one or more technically developable concepts.
