6. Frequently asked questions
Can a website be protected?
Yes, a website can be protected by copyright, provided its various components (music, graphics, text) are original.
Is it possible to register a patent if a product is already on the market?
A product may be marketed, but its manufacturing process may remain secret (for example, a manufacturing process not easily identifiable by reverse engineering, or a chemical product whose composition is not identifiable). This may also be the case for software and its algorithms (decompilation being forbidden except for interoperability imperatives). If the secrecy of the process has been effectively maintained, the invention can be patented at a later date, since there will have been no enforceable disclosure (subject to compliance with the other conditions).
