Morphological analysis is a systematic creativity method that meets a number of objectives:

• help define the space for existing solutions, for example by conducting a technology watch based on catalogs, competitor analysis or reading patent databases;

• situate a current design solution in a larger solution space ;

• stimulate the imagination and encourage the exploration of new solutions;

• technology foresight ;

• establish a technico-economic diagnosis or prognosis.

It is therefore a method that can be used not only during a design project, but also upstream, to define a long-term industrial strategy.
