5. Becoming an entrepreneur
This is the end of the process, the structuring is done, whether it's a new division, a new subsidiary, a joint venture or even a spin-off. Now it's time to "manage" and "operate". New explorations may have been identified in the course of the adventure, but it will probably be wiser to manage them as new adventures rather than to mix them with this new entity.
Will the intrapreneur survive? It's not certain, and it may not be desirable, either for himself or for the organization. There are many different types of intrapreneur. In the course of the exercise, some will prove to be excellent explorers, preferring to undertake another exploration rather than structure the fruit of their first discovery. Others, on the contrary, will be delighted to go all the way and return to a more traditional role within the organization. And then there are those who join the adventure...
