ABSTRACT
The article presents the state-of-the-art in district heating networks. It presents the advantages and disadvantages of different district heating network configurations. It also analyses different working fluids indicating their areas of utilization. It presents information regarding usual design solutions for district heating networks (pipes, insulation, channels, etc.). Optimal energy and economic operation of district heating networks is conditioned by choosing different regimes for thermal and hydraulic regulation.
