Nanotechnology is a strategic platform for economic growth and technological development. In particular, nanomaterials derived from wood and wood fiber could be used to manufacture a variety of unique, advanced products. For example, many of the new high value-added products could be derived from a plant-derived nanomaterial: nanocellulose. By incorporating properties in line with the challenges of sustainable development (natural and renewable origin, recyclability, biodegradability, biocompatibility, etc.), nanocellulose is likely to have a bright future.
