Summary
Laser-induced emission spectrometry (fluorescence and Raman scattering), which has hardly ever been used for wine authentication, should provide relevant information on both content and container. As far as the container is concerned, laser-induced light emission can be used to identify pigments on labels and capsules, and to characterize bottle glasses. Wines themselves can be analyzed by means of Raman spectra, for example, to identify the nature and quantity of sugars in their composition.
