The advantages of satellite broadcasting of digital radio lie in the extent of the coverage area, at the level of a country or a group of countries, and in mobile reception. Wide coverage can be provided either by a single-beam satellite or a multi-beam satellite, as shown in figure 20 for Europe. The multi-beam configuration can serve various language regions, for example. In the case of North America (§ 3.2 ), where English is the common language, the single-beam configuration will be used.
