3. Application features
The types of applications targeted, and therefore the hardware and software interfaces required, are what will distinguish the different platforms. We'll now take a look at the different types of application and what they imply in terms of hardware.
3.1 Electronics training
Here we present an elementary example for electronics training. It is taken from a Raspberry tutorial. The device comprises a Raspberry microcontroller and an electronics kit with an LED and a resistor (figure 3). The aim is to switch the LED on or off. The connection between the Raspberry and the kit uses the microcontroller's GPIO ports. A program is written to control the LED.
