7. Concluding remarks
Arduino and Raspberry are significant examples of low-cost platforms that enable widespread distribution of hardware and software components for teaching and project development in promising fields such as home automation, robotics and industrial computing. Communities have sprung up, with forums, courses, tutorials, software available on GitHub, and more.
The evolution of integrated circuit density has seen a notable evolution in these platforms, particularly for Raspberry. From platforms consisting of a microcontroller board with a number of specific interface modules implementing the various communication protocols (WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, etc.), we have moved on to boards integrating a CPU and the various functionalities that used to require external modules on the same chip.
