4. Conclusion
This article has enabled us to defined tribocorrosion and to sketch
out the different scientific fields to which it applies. First of
all, the synergistic effects were described with the various approaches
suggested. The mechanisms, such as corrosion, are well known, but
the local measurement of current, during friction, remains difficult
to put into practice. The local mechanisms that cause damage to materials
in contact, at the nanometric scale, are still difficult to grasp
in detail. The synergistic approach is proving to be advantageous
in getting an indication of the mechanics or the corrosion, the phenomenon
that takes it away or triggers the other. Based on metallurgical knowledge,
post mortem analyses of samples which have been stressed by friction
in a corrosive environment provide some very valuable information
