2. Traditional frameworks
Traditional timber framing accounts for around 2/3 of all timber framing claims. Deformed roofs, deformed floors, broken structural members, cracked and broken joints, and fungal and insect attacks are the main causes.
The roof deformation in figure 2a is almost imperceptible, with the rows of tiles curving slightly down the slopes. This is not damage. It does, however, illustrate a common design or workmanship fault that can lead to damage.
