This process is now almost 40 years old and has obviously reached maturity. After thirty years of hopes and a few disillusions, the situation has calmed down with the disappearance of legal constraints.

As for innovation, it remains as relevant as ever: we could mention the second chance of CO ₂ gas, which had been at the very origin of the gas-assisted injection process. But the main innovation of the last ten years has been the democratization of the process in applications such as medicine or watchmaking, for which reducing the mass of the sprue delivers the hoped-for savings.

Current research is focused on combining gas-assisted injection with other processes, such as compression injection.

Software publishers may have to work a little harder to combine processes...
