The aim of standardization is to draw up and promote reference documents, known as standards, containing solutions to technical and commercial problems. These concern products, goods and services, as well as recurring problems in relations between scientific, technical, economic and social partners.
Standards are set in the various countries by standards bodies.
It exists in the :

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ;
International Electrotechnical Commission IEC ;
International Telecommunication Union ITU.
