4. Combined thermomechanical testing
Having studied the influence of thermally induced damage (homogeneous
conditions in a furnace) on residual mechanical properties, the next
step is to investigate the influence of temperature on the macroscopic
response (stress-strain) and mechanical properties of the material
in terms of stiffness, strength and strain at fracture.
To characterize mechanical strength at temperature, tests are
generally carried out using a testing machine equipped with a high-temperature
oven, which enables homogeneous temperature conditions to be obtained
