3. Dissociated thermomechanical testing
The first step in studying the mechanical strength of composites
exposed to fire is usually to thermally degrade/decompose the materials
and then characterize their residual mechanical behavior in tension
or compression. This enables an initial link to be established between
temperature, exposure time and the structural capabilities (stiffness,
