3.1.1 Principle
The most common type of microwave resonator is the dielectric resonator. These are usually made up of a small cylinder cut from a high-permittivity ceramic. The high permittivity discontinuity at the cylinder's interfaces ensures effective confinement of the electromagnetic field within the ceramic. The preferred resonance mode is TE
