Let's take the example of a tuning fork: a musician's frequency standard. When the tuning fork is excited by a light tap, its two arms start to vibrate. The note it then emits is very pure (single vibration frequency).

The frequency of vibration depends on the material and geometry of the tuning fork. Although the note emitted remains audible for a long time, it is necessary to repeat the excitation after a certain period of time.
