1. Measurement principle
In the high-voltage field, the voltage between an electrode at
ground potential and an electrode at high potential is measured. To
protect personnel and equipment, the oscilloscope is placed at a sufficient
distance from the high-voltage electrode, while the voltage reducer
is necessarily close to it.
A connecting cable must therefore be used to transmit the measurement
signal from the foot of the measuring gearbox to the oscilloscope.
The measurement signal is a low-energy signal, which is likely to
be considerably disturbed by the high-frequency components of the
high-voltage signal.
