3. What categories of knowledge should be considered, and in what forms?

Meeting this ISO 9001 requirement is an excellent opportunity to take stock of the company’s organizational knowledge. This may include elements of the company’s culture—including its quality culture—as well as knowledge of customers, their industries, needs, and expectations; key contacts; relationships between the company and its suppliers; relationships with relevant stakeholders; specific technical knowledge; results of improvements made to processes, products, and services; and feedback gathered from employees.

Ultimately, this encompasses all specific and meaningful information used and shared internally to achieve the company’s objectives.

The ISO 9001 standard specifies that this knowledge can be made available and shared in various formats: physical or digital documents, databases, audio or video recordings, tutorials, etc....
