9. Measurement process control approach
Many factors determine the accuracy and reliability of test or analysis results. Using the (5M) – Diagram developed by Mr. Kaoru Ishikawa –, we consider elements from :
human factors ;
installations and environmental conditions ;
test and calibration methods and method validation ;
equipment and measurement traceability ;
sampling and handling of items tested or analyzed.

Human factors
Appoint a person to be responsible for controlling the measurement process. This person must be familiar with the company and its techniques, and it would be unwise to entrust this task to a trainee or a new recruit.
Provide training and information for staff involved in the use, conservation and purchase of reference materials.
