6. Flash point, fire point. Auto-ignition temperature
Experimental determination of the flash and fire points involves measuring the temperatures corresponding to these two points in an "open cup". Measurements are taken consecutively, using the same apparatus, the "Cleveland" method, according to well-defined heating, temperature rise, ignition and combustion procedures.
This methodology is the subject of ASTM D 92 and NF EN ISO 2592 standards.
