2. Translational (or static) links through obstacles
The types of connection described below enable two parts to be rigidly joined together. One of the parts can simply drive the other in translation, or can be pressed against it by transmitting a static force.
The two parts to be assembled are engaged one inside the other (conical or cylindrical assembly). The key passing through the two parts rests on one and pushes on the other in the opposite direction to disassembly. It is subjected to shear stress when the assembly transmits an axial force or torque.
