5. Zinc and magnesium alloys

  • Conventional designation

    The designation follows the former NF A 02-004 standard and includes in order :

    • the Afnor symbol for zinc (Z) or magnesium (G);

    • followed by the Afnor symbols of the alloying elements in descending order of content, each accompanied by the content expressed as a percentage.

    Example

    Z-A4G, G-A3Z1.

  • Designation of zinc alloys for foundries

    • Standard NF EN 1774 defines the designations and compositions of zinc alloys in ingots for foundries:
