Particulate emissions are a recognized public health problem, and are associated with an old and persistent image of the diesel engine: smoke, noise, odors... Engine technologies have reached their limits, and residual progress will not enable us to eliminate them at source, nor to meet the very stringent EURO 5 and 6 standards. As a result, the particulate filter has become essential to ensure the durability of the diesel engine, which remains the best placed in terms of efficiency and therefore CO ₂ emissions.
