ABSTRACT
This article concerns automobile engine tests conducted in facilities called test benches. The opening paragraph addresses the different kinds of test benches (parts, engine, GMP, etc.). Following, the physical data needed in order to perform bench testing is provided. There are some significant limitations and safety issues regarding bench testing due to the dangerous nature of these products, such as coolant, fuel, combustion air, and so forth. For this reason, a number of safety concepts are also proposed before tackling the question of how to implement the means to reduce test costs.

INTRODUCTION
The type of facility depends both on the component to be tested (combustion engine, engine component or vehicle) and the type of test to be carried out.
Test programs require definition of the physical data needed to run them.
Test benches are architectural units with important safety features, given the hazardous nature of fuels and the risks posed by rotating machines with hot parts or emitting toxic gases.
