Production figures attest to the fact that transmissions are an essential component of combustion powertrains. In fact, around 105 million transmissions of all types are expected to roll off the production line in 2020, 35% more than in 2010.
The market situation is fairly stable, with an almost equal split between manual transmissions (all types) and automatic transmissions (all concepts; ISV, DCT, BVA, CVT). By 2020, the breakdown of transmission types should be as follows: BVM (50%), BVA (28%), CVT (10%), DCT (8%), electrified transmissions (4%).
