Austenitic steels form a vast family made up of numerous sub-families, depending on their corrosion resistance or application properties:

• type 18.8 steels (table 15);

• steels 18.10.Mo (table 15);

• refractory steels ;

• non-magnetic steels (purely austenitic) ;

• superaustenitic steels with a high chromium, nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen content (table 16);

• special austenitic steels for urea or nitric acid (table 16).
